A teenager was treated for shotgun wounds after what police have described as a “targeted attack” in Lowestoft.

Officers received a call from the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston just after 1.40am on Saturday, January 20, reporting that a man had attended the hospital having sustained what appeared to be shotgun wounds.

The man – aged in his late teens – was treated for shotgun pellet wounds and has since been discharged.

Following initial police enquiries into the incident, it is believed the injuries were as a result of a firearm being discharged in Normanston Drive – between the Peto Way roundabout and the fire station - at around 12.45am the same morning. Three people were seen to chase two other people down the street.

Detectives currently believe that this was a targeted attack and are appealing for any witnesses to make contact.

They are also appealing to anyone who travelled along Normanston Drive between 11pm on Friday, January 19 and 1am on Saturday, January 20, and may have dash cam footage that could assist the investigation to contact them.

If it's not the Xbox or a knife it's now guns what ever happened to teenagers growing up & fist fighting. The person using the shotgun should get at least 25 years for attempted murder, another 15 years for discharging a fire arm in a public place but no doubt they will get something silly like a one year suspended and a free holiday paid for by the tax payer.

Also this week in the news was the following : 15 year old boy who got ONLY a few years for 5 people. Absolutely disgusting that a judge could give this small sentence. Personally the judge should of been suspended. Read the full story here Or use the read more here link (below)

'IT'S NOT JUSTICE' Families’ fury as boy, 15, is locked up for just two years over joyride crash that killed five including three kids

Brothers Ellis and Elliott Thornton, aged 12 and 14, were both killed along with Darnell Harte, 15, Anthoney Armour, 28, and Robbie Meerun, 24, in the crash in November last year.

Hi Kat, agree with you, 5 years is no where near long enough for this lad who killed 5 people.

The shooting I posted was really close to a mate of mine. One person shoot and because it was a shotgun, Many pellets missed and hit the back of an Estate car.

The thought of a person, Child or anyone could of been hit by the stray pellets and it's just so lucky it was early hours of the morning and no-one else was hit or dead.

He's saying the police have been flooding the area over the last week
